Provides care in the Endoscopy department directed toward meeting both the psychosocial and physical needs of the patient. Functions as a resource person and teacher. Care given reflects initiative and responsibility indicative of professional expectations. Proficient in Endoscopy procedures and guidelines and medication dosing.
DUTIES
Provides patient with explanations and verbal reassurance, provides emotional support Provides education to the patient and/or family regarding procedure, preop and postop instruction! s. Utilizes Universal Protocol to verify correct procedure, co! rrect patient identification, correct site, correct position, patient specific safety precautions and availability of special equipment. Knowledgeable of medications and their correct dosage, able to administer conscious sedation. Identifies physical symptoms and changes, responds appropriately in a timely manner, notifies surgeon or anesthesiologist. Knowledgeable of cardiac monitoring and can identify dysrhythmias. Able to treat appropriately based on facility protocol. Prepares room in a timely manner with all anticipated supplies, instruments, and equipment for all procedures, anticipates needs and assists surgeon with procedure. Positions and preps patient for endoscopy procedures. Endoscopy- Able to collect specimens per facility protocol. Able to perform Clotest. Able to operate electrocautery equipment. Able to use video equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS
