STOUGHTON PUBLIC SCHOOLSSTOUGHTON, MASSACHUSETTSTITLE: Athletic DirectorQUALIFICATIONS: Masters Degree from an accredited institutionAt least 5 years experience as an administrator and/or head coach on the high school varsity level, or college programSuch alternative to the above qualifications as the Superintendent of Schools may find appropriate and acceptableREPORTS TO: Superintendent of SchoolsSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Coaches and staff assigned to the Athletic DepartmentSALARY: Individual ContractPERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Organizes and administers the overall program of interscholastic athletics at the high school and middle school levelProvides leadership in conjunction with the high school Principal in the selection, assignment, supervision and evaluation of athletic coachesConducts preseason meeting of all coaches and assistant coaches, as well as with student athletes and their parents/guardiansWorks with the high school and middle school principal and Superintendent in the development and implementation of the Athletic HandbookCoordinates the organization and scheduling of all interscholastic athletic events and facilities use, including field and gym practice schedulesCoordinates with Central Office all permits for field and facility useAssumes, along with the school administration, general responsibility for the proper supervision of home gamesEnforces appropriate rules and regulations governing the conduct of athletic activitiesArranges transportation for athletic teamsOversees details of visiting teams needs, including gymnasium services and field assistance, as appropriateMaintains an accurate inventory of all athletic equipment. Plans for and ensures proper maintenance of that equipment.Coordinates the maintenance and upkeep of athletic fields and gymnasium at Stoughton High School, along with the Assistant Superintendent of Finance and OperationsFosters good school-community relations by keeping the community aware of and responsive to the athletic program, including promoting direct connections with youth sports organizationsMust be able to understand and carry out oral and written instructions and communicate effectively with administrators, faculty, students, parents and community membersPrepares and administers the athletic program budget, including long and short-term plans, and requisitions program supplies and equipmentSupervises all ticket sales and fund-raising events of the athletic program, and assumes responsibility for proper handling of fundsVerifies each athletes eligibility according to the requirements adopted by the Stoughton Public School District and/or the MIAA, including academic eligibility, physical examinations and baseline and post-concussion testingKeeps records of the results of all high school athletic contests, and maintains a record file of all award winners, stating the date and type of award including athletic scholarshipsIn cooperation with coaches, plans and supervises recognition programs for school athletesMust be able to work outside in adverse weather conditions, lift up to twenty-five pounds from floor to overhead, move around school and athletic facilities, travel within district as well as out of district to athletic eventsThis job description describes the general nature of the work to be performed by an employee in this position, and is not intended as an exhaustive list of all the responsibilities and/or skills required.
