As Barclays F# Developer, you will be a part of the Market Risk IT, which is developing a new strategic risk calculation platform called Variance catering for all asset classes. It provides risk manager and trading desks with risk and stress information through reports and interactive python environment. As part of the solution, we are developing a strategic infrastructure component to accommodate and simplify process execution across large number of servers.

We are currently in the early stages of implementing a hybrid working environment, which means that many colleagues spend part of their working hours at home and part in the office, depending on the nature of the role they are in. Depending on your team, typically this means that colleagues spend a minimum of between 20% to 60% of their time in the office, which could be over a week, a month, or a quarter. What will you be doing?
- Performing development work, quality control, and user support
- Being expected to help drive technical solutions and project work
- Getting involved in all aspects of software development life cycle
- Dealing with users, project managers and other developers
- Reporting to the development lead on the progress of development and user support tasks in daily Scrum meetings
- Assisting the users when problems arise
- Negotiating and soliciting engagement and assistance at all levels of the organisation, particularly where assistance is low or challenging
- Expert development skills in one of (or both) F# or/and C#
- Solid interest in functional programming (F#)
- Practical experience of project delivery
- Good time management, prioritisation and ability to meet deadlines and great social and communication skills across all levels
- Familiarity with any functional language, e.g., F#, Scala, Haskell, Clojure
- Knowledge of NoSQL database solutions, e.g., MongoDB
- Expertise in UI/Web development
- Experience of working in an Investment Bank
