Project Engineer, Site Operations [Finland]

Does your heart beat for international projects and construction sites?
Are you an experienced engineer looking to take your career to the next level? Or perhaps you have a background in site operations and are ready to apply your skills to a dynamic and challenging project role? If so, this could be the perfect opportunity for you!
Valmet is a global leader in delivering solutions and services to the energy industry. Our Energy Business Unit designs and delivers heat and power boilers and gasification plants, as well as rebuilds and environmental systems for energy producers and other industries worldwide. We are currently seeking a Project Engineer to join our Site Planning Team preferably in Tampere, but Raisio or Vantaa locations are also possible. This position also includes some travelling.
As a Project Engineer, you will participate in both EPC and EPS site planning, working closely with internal stakeholders, customers, and contractors. You will have an important coordinating role in our organization, as the decisions made in other disciplines along the way will not come to life until construction at the site. Your main responsibility will be to do construction planning and cost estimating in sales, delivery, and development projects, ensuring safe conditions to perform site activities efficiently.
We are looking for a Project Engineer who meets the following requirements:
  • A suitable degree in a technical field.
  • Experience from construction sites, project management, and engineering is highly appreciated.
  • Good skills in MS Office are required, and knowledge of AutoCAD and 3D-modelling tools is seen as an advantage.
  • Fluent skills in both spoken and written English are needed.
  • You are detail-oriented but can understand complex processes.
  • You can think several steps ahead and understand the cause and effect of the choices you make, including cost and safety aspects.
  • You need to be able to concentrate and make long-term plans, but also be ready for ad hoc decision-making in case of sudden changes.
  • Creative thinking and innovative problem-solving can be of use.
  • Because of the coordinating role, you need to have excellent interpersonal skills.
  • You are prepared to justify your views and even enjoy the occasional debate
