Regulatory Advisor

Job Type: Permanent

Hours: 37.5 per week

Job Location: Ashby-De-La-Zouch

Main Purpose of Role:

  • To provide a high level of professional services to key retail clients.
  • Responsible for ensuring that products are safe and legal by providing consultancy for legal and technical compliance, specification interrogation, pack copy generation, artwork approval, food labelling legislation, technical standards and advertising.
  • Maintain technical competence through a proactive approach. Willingness to improve competency and share information and learnings with colleagues.
  • Provide advice relating to Legislation, Codes of Practice and Guidelines to clients upon request.
  • Prepare and check pack copy in accordance with the client’s requirements taking information from supplier specifications.
  • Ensure that pack copy adheres to all current and pending UK and EU Legislation, Codes of Practice and Industry Guidelines.
  • Prepare and check final product artwork.
  • Liaise with clients, suppliers, design agencies, print houses and any other internal or external parties.
  • Attend internal and external meetings with clients, suppliers and other bodies as required.
  • Give advice on product specifications, pack copy and artwork approval as required.
  • Develop and maintain awareness of wider SGS expertise and actively promote two-way exchange of information to benefit clients and help SGS optimise service and revenue.
  • Keep well informed and up to date on all relevant Legislation, Codes of Practice, Industry Guidance, news, events and trends within the food and consumer products industry.


Qualifications
  • Fully conversant with UK and EU Legislation.
  • Confident in preparing and approving legally compliant pack copy information for labels/artwork to meet the regulatory requirements.
  • Commercially aware of the food and consumer products industry.
  • Professional in their dealings with clients to provide information confirming compliance issues.
  • Have the ability to plan and prioritise own work and other people's when necessary, demonstrating excellent time management skills.
  • Have exceptional IT skills, including competent use of Microsoft Office applications.
  • A working of knowledge of Health and Safety in the workplace.
  • Extensive experience in a Regulatory Affairs role, or in a related field
  • Hold a track record of managing external client pressures jointly with internal pressures and deadlines.
  • Knowledge of completing on-line retailer specifications (essential).
  • Degree or equivalent Food/Science Qualification
